2, 3 and 4 arm handwheels from Elesa

Arm handwheels such as the Elesa VB range and the ETK/EYK series are generally used where greater leverage is required, either because it allows greater force or greater delicacy and accuracy. They are often employed in the setting or operation of machines, valves, actuators, clamping or in rotational devices which require manual operation. They are frequently a superior solution to adjustment or control, in conjunction with digital position indi... [more]

REMA advises how to interpret and comply with new IE1 motor Regulations

Regulation 640/2009 of the EcoDesign Directive has now come into effect and any motor with an efficiency rating less that IE2 can no longer be placed on the market. Since 16 June 2011 it is no longer legal to place low efficiency motors on the European market. Specifically, the Regulations apply to LV motors of type S1 and S3 between the sizes 750W and 375kW. The next step for the Motors Regulations is 1 January 2015 when IE2 motors will be ban... [more]

Vacon motor control system controls the pumps that power the UT-1 submersible's trenching jets

The UT-1 submersible ultra-trencher, built by underwater engineering specialist SMD and owned and operated by CTC Marine, is the world’s most powerful jetting remote operated vehicle (ROV). It uses hydraulic jets to cut trenches in the sea bed to allow the rapid and cost-effective installation of, for example, flexible flow lines and cables. Permanently installed on the multi-role subsea construction vessel Volantis, the UT-1 ultra-trencher R... [more]

Ralspeed's DC injection brakes bring motors quickly and safely to a stop

Manufactured in Germany by Peter Electronic, for whom Ralspeed is the sole UK agent, Ralspeed's latest range of DC injection brakes offers a simple and effective way of bringing motors quickly and safely to a stop. In many applications, the improved braking offered by the units not only reduces maintenance requirements but also extends the life of the machine as it minimises unnecessary wear and tear. In appropriate applications, this can be a us... [more]

Elesa spherical rod ends keep linkages moving - accurately!

Elesa's new BJT series of M6 to M14 glass reinforced technopolymer spherical rod ends are designed to require zero maintenance with low wear and to absorb vibration and stress while minimising noise. The BJT series features encapsulated self-lubricating balls and are especially suitable for rotary, oscillating and linear movements even in aggressive environments. Applications are likely to include sensor mechanisms, gas struts, rod control li... [more]
