Prysmian’s FP200 Gold fire performance cables have been installed to power a range of life saving systems at Moorhouse, a new futuristic office development in London’s Moorgate, soon to be home to some of the capital’s top firms.

Moorhouse offers 305,000 sq ft of prime office space with ultra modern facilities and a retail facility occupying the lower floors. The cable is being used for the fire alarm detection system, throughout the 19 storey building. With its cutting edge voice and data transmission characteristics it was also the choice for the public address/voice alarm system or PAVA, which will help to evacuate the building quickly in the event of a fire.

Essex based contractors EA Electrical have installed the 80,000 metres of FP200 Gold cable required for the new building. EA contracts director Terry Burkin says: “Prysmian’s FP200 Gold is tried and trusted by our company, which makes it a product I can install with confidence. I know that the standard of installation will be high and the end results will remain impressive for years to come.”

Julie Croasdale, marketing manager at Prysmian explains why FP200 Gold remains the market leading FP cable. She says: “FP200 Gold is a unique fire resistant cable incorporating hard skin Insudite insulation. It complies with the cable requirements of BS5839-1 for fire alarm systems and is LPCB and BASEC approved, which is vital when dealing with life safety systems. Its design allows for maximum ease of termination with an unmatched combination of rigidity and ease of bending that help to speed the installation on a project of this scale.”
