HALOPAR mains voltage halogen lights the Prince of Wales Theatre in London

The original theatre first opened in 1937 and has undergone a massive refurbishment in 2004. To create a stylish, but comfortable theatre for the West End, Light Matters used OSRAM HALOPAR 20 and 30 to achieve a balance between decorative and practical lighting whilst still being in keeping with the original Art Deco. HALOPAR mains voltage halogen was chosen to highlight the sleek Art Deco interior and to showcase its collection of framed programmes.

Providing discrete but effective display lighting, HALOPAR mains voltage halogen do not require a transformer, are up to 100 % brighter than conventional lamps and last up to twice as long (up to 2.000 hours), making them ideal for this application.

A special challenge was trying to integrate new lighting into an existing building, but due to their compact size and the E27 screw base, HALOPAR were quick and easy to install. Furthermore, HALOPAR is dimmable and can create a huge range of charming lighting effects.

Light Matters also used coloured glass filters to soften the lit effect and match the lighting to the architectural colour scheme. Sharon Stammers also adds that Light Matters “tend to use a lot of OSRAM because of the reliability of the lamps and the good technical support that we have received from them in the past”.
