From September 2007 all NICEIC Domestic Installers who are compliant at their next assessment, will receive a new NICEIC certificate with the UKAS mark. NICEIC has announced it is to issue UKAS accredited certification to BS EN 45011 for contractors on its Domestic Installer scheme.

BS EN 45011 is the recognised European product certification standard and the benchmark being used by Government for certification bodies wishing to participate in a range of competency initiatives across the construction industry.

The existing scope for NICEIC Approved Contractor accreditation is ‘Electrical work within the scope of BS 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installation, other than in hazardous areas’. This will now include contractors in the NICEIC Domestic Installer scheme.

The first Domestic Installer to accept his new certificate was Keith Rowland from K & R Electrical, based in Luton, Bedfordshire.

“UKAS Accreditation is recognised throughout the world and now brings added value and recognition for our Domestic Installers,” says Jim Speirs, NICEIC Group Chief Executive.
