PULS UK has announced the launch of its latest Q-series single-phase unit, the 1 Kw QS40. As with other PULS devices the new 40Amp unit is remarkably compact measuring only 125 x 124 x 127 mm and weighing in at a featherweight 1.5 kg making it one of the smallest and lightest units on the market.

The QS40’s diminutive size allows multiple units to be used in parallel to suit applications requiring additional power, while efficiency of over 94% eliminates the need for fan cooling allowing the devices to be easily mounted side-by-side on the DIN-rail. A maximum inrush current of only 14A allows lighter cabling to be used without compromising safety and reliability.

With large power reserves of 150% the QS40 is ideal for starting heavy equipment such as DC-motors or capacitive loads. In many cases the QS40 can be used in applications that would otherwise require a unit of higher wattage, saving space and expense.

Harry Moore, PULS UK’s Managing Director said, “The new QS40 is an important addition to our range because it offers so many benefits to our customers. For example, until now if an application needed one kilowatt of power designers would have to use two units, now they only need one. That means less space, lower cost and improved reliability.”

In February 2010 PULS UK launched the QT40, the smallest 3-phase power supply in the world. The new QS40 looks set to bring the benefits of compact size and high efficiency to the single-phase market.
