Even the best of electrical test instruments occasionally go wrong and the MFT1552 multifunction tester from Megger is no exception to this rule, as David Ribano, an independent electrical safety engineer, discovered.

When the multifunction tester used by David Ribano started to go wrong, he was concerned that his work would be disrupted, leading to unhappy customers and loss of income. Fortunately, speedy and convenient service from Megger meant David was able to avoid this unfortunate outcome.

When he found that his trusty instrument was starting to get a little confused as he switched between functions, he contacted his local Megger sales engineer, Lee Baker, expecting to be told that his tester would need to be sent to the Megger service department for repair, and that he would, therefore, be without test facilities for several days at least.

Certainly, the instrument had to be sent to Megger for repair, but as Lee Baker was working in the area, arrangements were made for David to pick up a loan unit from his local Megger distributor so that his work could carry on without interruption.

Ten days later, his own instrument was returned to him by courier. On unpacking it, he was delighted to find that his tester was returned to him as good as new, all without any charge whatsoever. David was having a lucky run, he didn’t even have to return the instrument he’d had on loan, as Lee Baker was visiting the area and able to meet him at the site where he was working to collect it.

“Now that really is what I call service,” said David. “The initial problem was, of course, stressful but Megger succeeded in making the whole of the rest of the process completely stress free. I’ve been using Megger test equipment since the middle of the 1970s and, particularly after this experience, it will always be my first choice. Well done Megger!”
