adept4 has implemented a new hosted exchange service and email archiving solution for South East Electricity Substation Alliance (SEESA) to provide a seamless communications infrastructure. The platform, which will be used by all the alliance partners including National Grid, AREVA, Skanska and Mott Macdonald, allows over 200 remote and on site consultants to collaborate faster and more effectively online during the project for the replacement and upgrade of electricity substations throughout the south east of England and also provides additional backup and audit trail for emails.

adept4 was appointed following a tender process which reviewed prospective companies against a set of criteria including expertise and delivery timescales.

Julian Hitchin, IT manager for SEESA who oversaw the project commented; “We selected adept4 as our partner because we wanted to work with a company that understood the issues we faced, were able to demonstrate their expertise with the required solution, and could deliver it on time and on budget. The new hosted solutions will be used by staff based throughout the region and will enhance efficiency and productivity.”

As part of the implementation programme adept4 undertook and completed the migration of over 200 mailboxes during a weekend to avoid disruption to the business during the working week as well as implementing an email archiving solution for audit and compliance purposes. Over 35% of the mailboxes were migrated from Lotus Notes to MS Exchange.

Peter Birkett, chief executive at adept4 said; “We were very pleased to be awarded the contract by SEESA. By implementing the project as quickly as possible with the minimum amount of disruption we were able to greatly enhance business performance for the Alliance and we will continue to support the business by providing ongoing remote management.”
