ADS and Associates celebrated 10th anniversary
(23/11/2009)
ADS and Associates have celebrated 10 years in the business. It all began when David Steward and his wife Anne joined up with installation experts Mike and Damien to form ADS & Associates Ltd. on July 6th 1999. Within its first 8 years, the company doubled its installation size and quadrupled its turnover, establishing itself as one of the leading lightning protection companies in Ireland.
However, they have purposefully kept it a small team of experts with 8 employees now working for the company, part of what David and Anne love about the business. Although a decade is an age to celebrate, the team have decided a large celebration is not going to be on the cards.
David Steward said: ‘10 years is a long time and we are happy to be doing so well in such difficult times. We just want to continue working and going from strength to strength’. With a growing list of high profile clients, ADS is happy to continue what they do best.
Working with clients such as German companies Lidl and Aldi, ADS have had to make sure that their equipment is up to German standards alongside their own, ordering all of their equipment from DEHN who have extremely comprehensive and cost effective materials in line with EN 62305. One of the highpoints this year for David was attending a Rod Stewart concert at Thomond Park Stadium, where they had successfully installed lightning protection for the venue’s revamp the year before.
At present, the Irish member of the Association of Technical Lightning and Access Specialists (ATLAS), ADS is at the forefront of the campaign to bring the Irish Lightning Protection standard in line with the BS EN 62305. According to David, the Irish version is not nearly as enhanced as the British Standard, with far more tolerable risks. ADS has successfully campaigned alongside a major M & E Consultancy and the ETCI (Electro Technical Council of Ireland) and has now finally gained recognition. Thanks to ADS and their fellow campaigners, the Irish standard is now being re-written, ready for implementation in 2010.
