The IET Control Techniques Drives and Control Handbook offers practical information for industrial and drives engineers
(02/11/2009)
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has published the second edition of The Control Techniques Drives and Control Handbook.
The handbook replaces the previous edition published in 2001. Written by Professor Bill Drury, this useful handbook offers practical information for industrial and drives engineers and is a reference book to students who are looking to enter the drives and controls industry.
The book includes sections on the basics of electromagnetic and motor theory, power semiconductors, functional safety and control. The structure of the 750 page handbook has been redesigned into four parts to make it easier to read.
* Part A: Drives types and core technology
* Part B: The drive in its environment
* Part C: Practical applications
* Part D: Appendices
Professor Drury has spent 18 years working as a Technical Director for Control Techniques. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Bristol.
Professor Drury said, “The book aims to provide a practical insight into motor and drive systems. The scope includes basic theory and characteristics, through key components and practical limitations to the interactions the drive has on, for example the power supply, as well as looking at how motor and drive systems can be applied and optimised.”
