UPS Systems introduces rack-mounted hydrogen fuel cells

To date, UPS Systems has installed more fuel cell units in the UK for portable and stationary applications than any other provider. UPS Systems plc has showcased new fuel cell products to suit a variety of commercial applications at the Eleventh Grove Fuel Cell Symposium.

UPS Systems introduced a new-to-the-UK product range from Italian manufacturer Electro Power Systems specialising in fuel cells for standby power. Its rack-mounted hydrogen fuel cells come in 3kVA, 6kVA and 12kVA configurations and businesses can run them in parallel for even higher power outputs.

The company also showcased a brand new 1kW hydrogen fuel cell from BOC, a member of the Linde Group. This compact unit is no bigger than a vacuum cleaner and comes complete with a new hydrogen storage cylinder for extended runtimes. UPS System’s and BOC’s goal is to drive down production costs to make fuel cells more affordable for businesses across the UK.

Visitors were also able to see the latest fuel cell from EFOY on UPS Systems’ stand. The new EFOY Pro 2200 methanol fuel cell provides 90w of power – ideal for remote power, security cameras and signalling. The new unit offers 38% more power than the previous EFOY Pro 1600 and features a charging capacity of 2200 watt hours a day. UPS Systems demonstrated the new fuel cell working in conjunction with a completely remotely powered security camera system.
