Design flexibility with hollow shaft stepper motors from Astrosyn International Technology
(05/10/2009)
Hollow shaft stepper motors from Astrosyn International Technology are available in NEMA 17, 23, 34 and 42 frame sizes, and with full step angles of 0.9 or 1.8 deg.
The hollow shafts offer design engineers increased flexibility and enable more compact designs for rotating assemblies where a 'split ring' type connection is required. Wires, fibre optics, laser beams, pneumatics, liquids etc can cross the plane of rotation through the shaft.
The motors have environmental protection ratings up to IP68, with the option of special protective coatings. Low noise, ultra-precision bearings can be specified where smooth operation is critical.
Depending on the frame size, shaft internal diameters range from 6.6 mm to 22 mm, with holding torques from 1 Nm to 17 Nm. The two smaller motor sizes are also available with double shafts (ie front and rear).
A wide variety of applications are possible, including scientific instruments, radar systems, electro-optical assemblies, printers and aerospace equipment.
