The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, BS 7671: 2008 was issued on January 1st 2008 with the intention that it will take effect on 1st July 2008. ABB has won orders worth $8-million from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) to deliver valve and control system components to the Lingbao extension project, located on the border between the provinces Henan and Shanxi in central China.
The Lingbao II extension project will expand the existing asynchronous interconnection at the Lingbao back-to-back HVDC (high-voltage, direct current) station by an additional 750 MW (megawatts).

ABB has announced it has won a contract worth $170 million from Svenska Kraftnät and Fingrid Oyj, the transmission system operators in Sweden and Finland. ABB will supply two HVDC (high-voltage, direct current) converter stations for the Fenno-Skan 2 power link.
The converter stations will be part of an 800-MW (megawatt) extension of the existing 550-MW Fenno-Skan 1 link, delivered by ABB in 1989. ABB will use its state-of-the-art HVDC technology and equipment.
