Carlo Gavazzi showcases energy solutions
(01/10/2008)
At this year's Energy Event, Carlo Gavazzi has demonstrated its range of energy meters, analysers and energy management systems which offer efficient and cost effective solutions for all commercial, domestic and public buildings.
The newest addition to Carlo Gavazzi’s energy meter family made its debut appearance – the EM21-72D – the world’s first ever compact energy meter with a multi-application detachable LCD display and dual mounting options.
The small and powerful MID Certified EM24 was also showcased as a complete utility meter for load analysis and cost allocation, offering conventional 1-2-3-phase active and reactive energy measurements. Both these energy meters conform to the newly introduced Measuring Instruments Directive (MID).
Also being demonstrated on the stand was the PowerSoft energy management software which enables the correct allocation of utility costs and increases awareness of energy consumption, and the Dupline® Online service for fast and cost-effective remote data collection, monitoring and control.
EM21-72D energy meter
The new flexible EM21-72D is a compact single – two – three-phase energy meter and can be used either as a basic energy meter or multifunction meter and brings both simplicity and compactness to building management systems and cost-allocation applications. Quick and easy to install, it occupies just 72 x 72mm on panel doors or four DIN modules on the rail.
Self-powered, the meter features Easyprog simplified programming and automatic adoption of the display to the selected application. Carlo Gavazzi’s patented detachable display requires no batteries or electrical connections, it simply plugs into the base unit via one of the two possible slots. The LCD also gives a visual warning if incorrect phase sequence is detected.
Seven sets of three variables can be selected for display, providing for active and reactive energy measurement or a complete set of variables. Options include: system variables such as W, var, PF, Hz and phase-sequence; single-phase variables including A, VLL, VLN, PF; TRMS measurements of distorted sine waves; and energy measurements (total kWh and kvarh). With capabilities from simple transducer applications to complex cost allocation, the result is a meter that is just as at-home in multi-use buildings as it is in extensive building management solutions.
EM24 energy meter
The powerful MID Certified EM24 allows a1-2-3 phase direct connection up to 65A or a 5A Current transformer connection. Complete utility metering for applications such as shopping malls, apartments, public buildings and industrial premises, this analyser allows cost allocation, cost splitting and variable control thanks to its two digital outputs and RS485 communication port. It has a tamper proof terminal cover to protect all inputs/outputs for when being used for revenue or billing purposes as specified by the MID.
Housed in a compact 90 x 71 x 65mm (4 DIN) standalone module, the unit has a large LCD display which uses STN technology to ensure sharp readability over a wide angle. The front panel incorporates a joystick to quickly scroll through the readout, and uses a programmable four-position rotary selector to switch between alternative measurement pages.
Dupline® Online service
Carlo Gavazzi’s Dupline® Online system is a web-based data logging solution that supplies a cost effective method of collecting all kinds of data including digital and analogue I/O, temperature values and energy meter readings. Several individual Dupline® systems can be connected to one Dupline® Online package, enabling the monitoring of many remote sites. To make a cost saving the Dupline® Controller offers energy management functions that can be customised for each application. Automatic alerts can be set-up to notify users via SMS or email, if preset limits are exceeded or an event occurs.
PowerSoft Software
PowerSoft smart energy management network software improves efficiency, reduces costs and raises awareness of energy consumed where one or more organisation or division share the same utilities, such as shopping centres, production facilities, hospitals, offices and flats. This software provides accurate readings, allowing the best tariff can be chosen for each utility. The configuration wizard has a fully-automated set-up which saves installation time, and can manage up to 800 instruments over several sites, even with distances between each.
